Cookie and Tracking Notice
Last Updated: September 28, 2026
Effective date: September 28, 2026. Version: 1.3.
This notice describes how First Gear AI LLC, a Texas limited liability company, uses cookies and similar technologies on https://firstgear.ai and the dashboard.
1. What Cookies Are
Cookies are small files a website stores on your device. Similar technologies include local storage and pixels. We use as few as the site needs to work.
2. What We Use
- Strictly necessary (always on, no consent needed): session and sign-in cookies for the dashboard and account portal; security cookies such as CSRF protection; Stripe’s cookies during checkout for payment processing and fraud prevention; and security cookies that Vercel or Cloudflare may set at the edge for routing and bot protection. The site cannot function without these.
- Functional: a small amount of browser storage that remembers preferences such as dismissed notices. The key that unlocks your data is never kept in a cookie or in browser storage. Your data is locked on your device with a key we never hold, and we cannot read it.
- Analytics: we use Plausible Analytics, which is cookieless. It sets no cookies, collects no personal data, and does no cross-site tracking. We do not use Google Analytics or Meta Pixel.
- Attribution (not strictly necessary): one first-party cookie,
fg_attr, set only when you arrive from an ad or a campaign link. It stores the click identifier the ad platform put on that link, the campaign tags, the page you landed on, and the site you came from. It is written once, on your first visit, and never rewritten. It expires after 90 days. Nothing else reads it and it does not follow you to other sites. - Advertising and cross-site tracking: none. We run no third-party advertising cookie, no Meta Pixel, no Google Analytics and no retargeting tag, and we do not sell personal information. If you later become a customer we do tell the ad platform that the click turned into a sale, which some state laws treat as sharing for advertising. The next section is how you turn that off.
3. The Website Assistant Sets No Cookie
The assistant on our public website answers questions before you have an account. It sets no cookie and writes nothing to your browser storage. We do limit how many times it can be asked from one place, to keep it from being abused, and we do that by IP address in server memory rather than by tagging your browser. What you type into it is processed by us and by the provider that answers it, which is named in our Subprocessor List. That is a privacy matter rather than a cookie one, and our Privacy Policy covers it.
4. Your Choices
- Turn attribution off before it happens. Send Global Privacy Control and the
fg_attrcookie is never written. Nothing about your visit is kept and there is nothing to report to an ad platform later. GPC is built into some browsers and available as an extension in the rest. - Turn it off after the fact. Clear cookies for this site, or block them, and the record is gone. The site works normally either way; nothing about attribution gates the product.
- We still run no consent banner, because the only non-essential cookie we set is the first-party attribution one described above and it is refused outright for anyone signalling GPC. If we ever add a third-party advertising or retargeting tag, we will update this notice and give you an equally prominent way to accept or decline before it loads.
- Global Privacy Control and similar recognized opt-out signals are honored. The signal stops the
fg_attrcookie from being written, so a later purchase is never reported to an ad platform. We apply it to your browser or device. - Browser controls: you can block or delete cookies in your browser. Blocking strictly necessary cookies will break sign-in.
5. Third Parties
Stripe sets cookies during checkout under its own policies as our payment processor. Vercel, which hosts the site, and Cloudflare, which provides DNS and edge services for firstgear.ai, may each set strictly necessary cookies for security and routing. The full processor list is at firstgear.ai/subprocessors. Your Anthropic session is governed by Anthropic’s own cookie policy under your own account.
6. Changes and Contact
This notice is versioned. When we make material changes we update the date and version at the top of this page. Version 1.1 names the edge security cookies Vercel and Cloudflare may set, and adds Section 3 on the website assistant. It did not change what we collect. Version 1.3 adds that the key to your data is never kept in a cookie or in browser storage; it sets no new cookie. For what happens to your data when you leave, and how quickly we delete it when you ask, see our Privacy Policy.
